We’re Pleased To Announce…

…We’re actually tickled pink to announce that we received the Food Safety Achievement Award for 2012 from FIBR – the Food Industry Business Roundtable – at the annual Awards Dinner held on Wednesday, October 3 at LA Trade Tech College in downtown LA.

Here’s a little bit about FIBR —    FIBR is a nonprofit business association dedicated to promoting the growth of the ethnic and specialty food processing industry in Southern California. We encourage communication and cooperation among all segments of the industry; work with regulatory and economic development agencies; partner with educational institutions; build linkages between public and private sources of capital; and keep members informed about industry trends, trade policies and regulatory developments.

To create the annual awards dinner, FIBR requests product donations from its member manufacturers. We send over lists of the items that we are willing/able to donate and then the Culinary Instructors choose which products they want to work with and, with the students, create and execute the menu for the evening. One of the Chef instructors referred to it as a “Culinary CHOPPED.” It’s a pretty cool deal.

Every year FIBR gives out 4 awards. Three are announced ahead of time and they are;

FIBR Community Partner Of The Year  –  F. Gaviña & Sons Gourmet Coffee

FIBR Food Processor Of The Year  –  Giuliano’s Bakery

FIBR Food Safety Achievement Award  –  Village Green Foods

The fourth award – the FIBR Food Innovation Award – is given out by Chef Stephen Kasmer, LATTC Culinary Arts and he chose Village Green Foods as the recipient for this year. Woo hoo!

Still hoping to receive a photo of all of us at the dinner… this will have to do for now.
